 MANUFACTURERS

When it comes to boats I'm a pretty harsh judge of character.  I think because I spend so much time aboard it really becomes a personal challenge to find just the right boat! The Cobia Boats I checked out at Boat Stuf had the elements I required...Quality,Fit and Finish, Performance, and Durability.  I chose the 222 Bay but there many other models including center consoles and cuddys to choose from.

After a recent field test of several different rods I decided to switch to "Marsh Master" and "Titanium X" rods by Challenger Performance Tackle.  I've been fishing with these rods for several months now and they are real performers.  My customers and I have caught everything from Lake Pontchartrain Specs to Breton Sound Bull Reds with no rod casualties.  Heck we've even caught several jack crevalle and sharks!  Great looking rods and Great Quality Too!

Old BaySide Lures, serious salt water tackle "Designed by Nature".  These soft plastics with the matching super strong jig heads have proven themselves time and again to me and my customers.  The Old BaySide Shrimp works great on trout and reds in the marsh and the Skeleton Shad has been the demise of many trout around the bridges in Lake Pontchartrain.

Lee Fisher Nets, maker of the "Bait Buster".  My 8'Bait Buster cast net really helps me make short work of catching my own bait.  These nets are built like custom nets but are much more economical.

CamoWraps, If you want to really dress up your truck or boat or just want to "hide your toys" you need to see Rip at CamoWraps.  He can cover or accent your vehicle and equipment in your favorite camo pattern.  I know my Suburban really turns some heads with the Realtree mid-stripe he applied.

Blue Lizard Sunscreen,  The makers of Blue Lizard Suncream probably do more to keep me on the water than just about anyone.  This sunscreen is more water resistant than any other I've tried.  When they say "Protection to the Max" they really mean it!  One application early in the morning usually lasts me all day.

ACCOMMODATIONS

While visiting Slidell or New Orleans if accommodations are in order, let the folks at the Hampton Inn in Slidell make your stay more enjoyable.  You can relax on Lake Pontchartrain's Northshore and still be only minutes from great fishing or Downtown New Orleans.  When you call or stop by, tell them Capt. Van sent you and you'll recieve their best discount on a first class room with all the perks!  This discount is available to my customers  and referals, so go ahead and check it out.

 MARINE SUPPLY

If you need anything to do with boating or watersports then Boat Stuf is all you'll need to know.  I rely on the guys at the Slidell location on Front Street to keep my boat and all of my equipment in tip top condition.  They have everything from  stainless hardware to marine electronics to Great Yamaha Outboards.  For those of you in New Orleans you may want to visit the West Bank store on Lapalco.
